One of the 3 things Karen wanted to visit the Camargue area for - pink flamingos! Not the best quality pic but that's as good as it gets on maximum camera zoom...

Another of those 3 things in the Camargue - black bulls, here being wrangled by a Camargue cowboy equivalent. It was part of the boat trip...

The Camargue is also famous for its native horses, which are born black or brown and as they mature they turn pure white.

We booked a week in a wee village called Peret, in the middle of rural south of France. This was our home for the week on 'Rue Paul Valery' - the thin sliver of a yellow house in the middle of the photo!

The front of 'our' house. I looks deceptively small but the house was wider at the back of the house (in places!) and long, and 3 stories altogether. I have to say window shutters are a truly marvelous invention for keeping a house cool!

This was the FABULOUS view from the terrace at the back of the house. A panorama photo of the view can be seen in one of the other albums.

Our equally fab terrace where we spent most evenings with un bouteille de biere and BBQ dinner. Every night there were swallows swooping and diving that provided endless entertainment and one very large flying beetle that went by!

There were some wannabe-friendly cats nearby including this black one who we shooed away at the request of the house owner. He/she retreated and took on this 'how dare you' face...!

We visited the amazing city of Carcassonne that has at it's heart a medieval fortified citadel once housing the town. It was restored in the 1840s to what you can see today - a true fairytale sight to behold! This photo shows the Chateau which forms part of the walls as well.

Another view of these amazing walls and turrets, this was opposite side to the main entrance. There was an excellent view of modern Carcassonne city from the top of the walls, but this is a much more interesting photo!

It was extremely hot at Carcassonne, sun was beating down and overexposing a few photos such as this one, a shop selling traditional Provencal fabric items, mostly tablecloths. Very cheery colours!

The main reason for our trip to France, Le Viaduc de Millau! An impressive engineering marvel of a bridge that is 2.5 km long and 1000 feet high. WOW.
