It was recommended to us to visit this amazing property, Hearst Castle, that sits atop a 1600 foot high hill overlooking an unobstructed view of the pacific. It's about a 3.5 hour drive to get there from San Jose but well worth the trip. Here is a pic of one of the many statues around the grounds (this one is of 'Nike'), and behind it you can just see the outdoor pool.
