We visited the city of Sheffield in August for a conference held there. This photo is of the city centre, town hall. It was a really nice place to visit, a lot of effort has gone into making the public spaces a pleasant place to be.

Right next to the quite traditional buildings of the other two photos, was this square and 'Winter Garden' building which was a contrast to say the least!

On the way to Sheffield we took a detour to visit Hardwick Hall, the home of Elizabeth I. It sat atop a hill with this outlook.

Lining the rooftops were Elizabeth I's personal initials crest, it gave the house a very distinctive look we haven't seen anywhere else.

There were lots of statues in the gardens, including this one of a violinist.
