All the people involved in the mock battle wore authentic garments and armour and carried fairly authentic weapons. The next several photos show scenes from the battle. The smoke you can see here is from real cannons!

They also had a display of Samurai Horseback Archery which was impressive. Here is one of the riders getting ready for the display.

We captured a few photos in between the main events, here are a couple of people getting kitted up for the battle.

This man's probable thought at seeing us with the camera: "Not another bl...y tourist!!!"!! Not to mention it was about 30 degrees and all his clothes were padded and then surrounded by metal...

These tents were near the battle field and sported most of the weapons you see in the above photos of the battle.

At the festival you could buy all sorts of medieval themed things, and you could even hire an outfit to wear to get in the 'spirit' of the day. Lots of people did this so it seemed very much like you had regressed to 1307. Thankfully no black plague, though!
